[–]vwestlifeBSR 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (3 children). He's right. /r/PunkRecords - Anarchy in the Record Store! So if that kind of modern bass-heavy dance music is your thing, maybe you should avoid the LP60. Be sure to setup as accurately as possible. You should be able to find a decent used, older turntable for around the same price. Very useful for albums that don't come with a download code. Buy external one and it will pay off. The reason it gets a lot of hate is because it is very prone to playback issues due to a non-adjustable tonearm. It's the first turntable I've ever owned. [–]Giantballzachs 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children). Used mine for a year, and on albums I hadn't heard before it sounded great; however, albums I had listened to before and knew really well played slower. [–]FamousDrumer 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children), [–]dethrock 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children). ..if modern bass-heavy dance music is your thing, maybe you should avoid the LP60.. Yeah, I'll have to strongly disagree with that statement. We sell Audio Technica, and i'm willing to bet that over 3 years I've sold between 75 - 100. [–]SteveTenants 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children). It plays every record I've tried on it start to finish and exactly as intended (obviously with imperfect but acceptable sound quality like most budget turntables), except for any records that have visible scratches that would impede playback regardless of the turntable you play it on. use the following search parameters to narrow your results: (1) Questions regarding setups, equipment advice, or personal inquiries that primarily benefit the individual over the broader subreddit community should be submitted in the stickied Weekly Questions thread, also accessible from the Submit a New Question button above. At $80, I could also grab the Amazon-recommended speakers, a pair of Edifiers with the whole bill coming in for less than I had expected to spend on an entry-level turntable. [–]Zanshin314Audio Technica 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children). I can get behind that answer. Yes, espcially if it suits your particular needs. I ended up buying speakers with an audio system for CDs (I also have a large CD collection), Bluetooth, USB etc which also fit my budget. That being said, if I can find something great at a Goodwill or something I won't hesitate to get it. I was torn between LP-60 and LP-BK-USB. I have other records that don't have this problem, but they are double LPs and don't pack as many songs or as much play time on one side. Are there any other reasons you chose the Denon over a Pro-Ject, U-Turn, etc.? [–]n8great321Clearaudio 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children). I've had only one album skip, but that was because it was dirty and also warped a bit. Survivorship bias is a solid reason why we cannot judge the quality of old things based on what examples we have of them. It provides clear, warm tones that are well appreciated. If you have records that are warped at all (I have several; some came to me like that and others I did myself in my early days before I learned how to properly store vinyl), forget about smooth playback. The turntable is missing the component that lifts and lowers the tone arm, so I manually set the cartridge onto the record and the whole thing played fine up until the very end. The tests shown in this video prove it: https://vimeo.com/213480496. Tracking speed seems fine - I spent a fair bit of time A/B'ing between the player and Google Music, with barely any deviation. That's the main reason I picked up one (or rather it's equivalent) I'm not sure I want to go spending so much money on something like this yet. [–]Giantballzachs 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (2 children), I bought one for my dad to play his old records on. I haven't tried my 180g yet, but it's been playing the ancient records I get at half price books fairly well. I have since tried to play the same record and things sound pretty fine to me, no noticeable skipping, but I am a new user and would not notice if something minor was off with the sound.
